What is the difference between an emergency luminaire and an exit sign?
An exit sign shows the direction of escape or the exit by means of a recognisable sign. It helps people understand which way to leave the building.
An emergency luminaire, on the other hand, illuminates the escape route or another area important for safe movement when normal lighting fails. The sign shows the way; emergency lighting helps people move along the route. Both tasks must be taken into account when designing escape lighting.
