Product description
Panasonic 2812 is a mounting base for intrinsically safe (IS) conventional detectors, such as the 2811 ATEX heat detector (Hochiki DCD-1E-IS). The base is intended for hazardous areas and contains no electronics at all, so it does not introduce any additional components into the Ex area.
The base has a robust, low-profile design, only 8 mm high. Cables are connected with square clamp terminals that accept 1–2.5 mm² conductors. There is a separate terminal for the cable screen. The base is white, 100 mm in diameter and weighs 51 g.
Installation
The base is fixed to the ceiling in the Ex area, and the IS detector is twisted into it. The zone line in the Ex area is connected to the fire alarm control panel via a Zener barrier or galvanic isolator (e.g. MTL5561, 2820) located in the safe area. Installation must comply with ATEX requirements, and tools suitable for Ex areas must be used. In category 1 areas a flammable gas mixture is present continuously or for long periods, so tools that may cause sparks must not be used at all.
