Panasonic 4414E is an address setting tool for setting the loop address (001–253) and operating mode of analogue detectors and other addressable COM loop devices. The address and mode must be set before the device is connected to the COM loop. The tool can also read the current address and mode of a device and reset the device to address 000, which is used when the EBL system addresses the devices automatically.

There are four operating modes: M0 (NORMAL), M1 (2330), M2 (2312) and M3 (Advanced). For a new device, the tool suggests either NORMAL or Advanced mode depending on the device type, and for a used device, the mode last used. Advanced mode is blocked for devices that do not support it. When several devices are programmed one after another, the address can be incremented by one with the 0/+1 button.

Connection

The contact pins (SA/SB) of an analogue detector are pressed directly into the push-in terminals of the tool. Devices with wire leads or screw terminals only are connected with the cable supplied, which has insulated crocodile clips and push-in terminals.

Power supply

The tool is powered by four 1.5 V alkaline batteries (LR6/AA). The batteries last approximately 250 hours or up to 50,000 read or write operations, and a low battery is indicated on the display. By default, the tool switches off after 30 seconds of inactivity; the time can be adjusted between 10 and 99 s. The tool is intended for indoor use in dry premises.
