# Panasonic 6377 UG-4 duct detector housing

Duct detector housing (Uniguard-4) for detecting smoke in ventilation ducts. A smoke detector is fitted in the housing, and a venturi tube leads air from the duct through the detector.

## Product description

Panasonic 6377 is a Uniguard-4 duct detector housing that detects smoke in ventilation ducts. The housing and venturi tube are designed so that the airflow in the duct is drawn evenly across the entire duct cross-section through the detector when the duct air velocity is 0.5–20 m/s. A smoke detector with its mounting base is fitted in the housing; the datasheet gives wiring instructions for addressable bases 3312 and 3312F/FL (detector 4401) and 2324 (detector 4452W).

Venturi tubes come in two lengths: the standard 0.6 m tube and the 1.06 m extension tube, which is used in ducts wider than 0.6 m. The aluminium tube can be shortened to the required length. If the airflow in the duct is low, a 0.6 m tube with a built-in fan can be used. The cover has a test hole for function testing, and the red airflow indicator supplied shows that air is flowing through the housing correctly.

### Installation

The housing can be mounted on any side of the duct, with the arrow in the direction of airflow. The distance from the location to a damper, filter or bend in the duct must be at least 3 × the duct diameter upstream and 5 × the diameter downstream. A Ø 38 mm hole is drilled in the duct, and the tube should extend across about 90% of the duct width. For round and insulated ducts, bracket 6382 is used (duct diameter from 100 mm). In cold premises, the housing is protected with insulation, or outdoors with a protective hood, to prevent condensation.
