# Panasonic 5040 EBL512 G3 communication board

Product code 41070

Network board for connecting EBL512 G3 fire alarm control panels to an EBL Ring network. The same network can have up to 30 panels, and the links can be made with copper or fibre-optic cable.

- Up to 30 EBL512 G3 panels in the same ring network
- Copper (RJ45) or multimode fibre (ST) in the same ring
- Segment length up to 1,000 m on copper and 1,500 m on fibre (OM1)
- Redundant network with two boards, single network from software version 3.2
- Galvanically isolated RS-422, 115.2 kbaud
- The board does not store network data, replaceable without reprogramming

## Product description

Panasonic 5040 is a network board for connecting EBL512 G3 fire alarm control panels to each other in an EBL Ring network. Up to 30 panels can be connected to the network, and it requires panel software 3.0 or later. The network consists of two rings circulating in opposite directions: a message travels from one panel to the next, and when the sender receives its own message back, it has been passed on to the whole network.

In a redundant network, two boards are installed in the panel in slots 0 and 1 on the main board. The primary network is normally in use, and in the event of a fault (open circuit or short circuit) the traffic automatically switches to the secondary network. If redundancy is not needed, a single board in slot 0 can be used from software version 3.2 onwards – in this case it must be ensured that the solution does not conflict with EN 54.

### Cabling

The board has RJ45 connectors for copper cable and ST connectors for multimode fibre. Different cable types can be used in different parts of the same ring, but only one type within a segment. Maximum segment lengths: FTP CAT 5e or better 1,000 m, OM1 fibre 62.5/125 µm 1,500 m and OM2 fibre 50/125 µm 550 m. With single-mode fibre, distances of tens of kilometres can be reached with separate fibre converters, and existing TLON cable can also be used if a ring can be formed from it.

### Installation and commissioning

The board is fastened to four spacers on the main board; an O-ring and a ferrite are supplied. Network settings, such as panel numbers and the order of the panels in the ring, are made with EBLWin. The board’s three LEDs indicate reception, transmission and fault.
