# Panasonic 5017 COM loop board

COM loop board for the main board of the Panasonic EBL512 G3 fire alarm control panel. Each board handles one COM loop, to which up to 253 addressable devices can be connected.

## Product description

Panasonic 5017 is the COM loop board of the EBL512 G3 fire alarm control panel. Four COM loop boards are installed on the main board of the control panel; they are secured with a plate and connect directly to the main board. The board is intended as a spare part for the 5000S series control panels.

### COM loop

The control panel has four COM loops (0–3), which are connected to terminal block J5 on the main board. Up to 253 COM loop devices can be connected to each loop (addresses 001–253; may vary depending on the software version). The control panel transmits data by changing the polarity of the loop. The loop voltage at the terminals is 25.0 V ± 1.5 V and the loop current is max. 350 mA. The loops are LPS (Limited Power Source) outputs.

Up to 128 short-circuit isolators, including sub-loops, can be connected to a loop, dividing the loop into up to 129 segments. In the event of a short circuit, only the faulty segment is disconnected. EN 54-2 requires one short-circuit isolator per 32 alarm points. Each COM loop can include up to four sub-loops, which are connected via the 4585 board installed in the 4466 power supply.

### Installation

The conductor size of the loop cable is 0.3–2 mm². The number and type of loop devices in relation to the cable length and type are dimensioned in accordance with the EBL512 G3 design guide.
