# Panasonic 4620 addressable base unit for wireless devices

Addressable base unit for connecting wireless detectors and call points to the COM loop of a Panasonic EBL fire alarm system. One base unit serves a maximum of 16 wireless units.

## Product description

Panasonic 4620 is an addressable base unit that connects wireless devices – smoke detector 4611, manual call point 4614 and acknowledgement button 4645 – to the COM loop of an EBL128, EBLOne or EBL512 G3 fire alarm control panel. The wireless system can be used to extend the fire alarm system at sites where cabling is difficult.

The base unit communicates with each wireless unit every two minutes on the selected transmission channel (0–3). If no response is received, the base unit also activates four backup channels and the unit responds on the best channel. A fire alarm is passed to the control panel without delay, and the control panel controls the detector indicator and buzzer. The base unit has two built-in antennas and its own short-circuit isolator, which does not use a separate loop address.

### Installation

The base unit is mounted vertically in a central location relative to the wireless units. In addition to the COM loop, it requires a 24 V DC supply from the control panel or external power supply 4466, with a cable of max. 3 metres. Connections are made to push-in terminals (conductor Ø 0.6–1.2 mm). For automatic addressing, the base unit is given address 144, 161, 178 or 195. Adjacent devices operating on different channels must be more than 2 metres apart. Reinforced concrete strongly attenuates the signal, so a separate base unit is recommended for each floor. It is advisable to check the signals with planning tool 4613.
