# Panasonic 4613 wireless network planning tool

USB radio signal measuring device (sniffer) for the design, installation and commissioning of Panasonic wireless fire alarm systems. Used with the EBLsniffer software.

## Product description

Panasonic 4613 is a planning tool for wireless fire alarm systems, used to check the quality of the radio links before installation, during installation and at commissioning. The manufacturer recommends using it at all wireless sites, because the attenuation and reflections caused by structures cannot be reliably calculated in advance.

The tool is a USB device with an antenna that is connected to a laptop and used with the EBLsniffer software. The software can measure the background noise, i.e. interference caused by other radio equipment on the frequencies used by the system. It is also used to monitor the traffic and signal levels between the 4620 base unit and its wireless units, so that the placement of the devices can be optimised. The results can be saved as an image for documentation.

### Use

For background noise measurement, it is advisable to connect the tool to the computer with a USB extension cable of at least two metres, because the computer can interfere with the measurement. The extension cable is not included. The device requires drivers, and use of the EBLsniffer software requires the 5094 EBLWin key. The base unit can be set to installation mode for the duration of the measurement, in which case communication takes place every five seconds and measurement results accumulate faster.
