# Panasonic 2843 intrinsically safe detector mounting box

Product code 41578

Waterproof mounting box for the 2840 and 2841 addressable IS detectors. Raises the ingress protection of the smoke detector to IP44 and of the heat detector to IP66/67 in hazardous areas.

## Product description

Panasonic 2843 is a waterproof mounting box for addressable, intrinsically safe IS detectors: the 2840 smoke detector and the 2841 heat detector. The detectors can also be installed in the Ex area without the box, but with the box the degree of protection is higher: IP44 with the smoke detector and IP66/67 with the heat detector. The box is suitable for zones 0, 1 and 2.

The box comes with two cable glands (PF½) suitable for cables with a diameter of 4.3–6.4 mm. The detector is fixed to the box with the two 25 mm M5 screws supplied, and a black rubber seal ensures tightness.

### Installation

Open the required knockouts and fit the cable glands before fixing the box to the ceiling; tighten the glands to a torque of at least 4 Nm. Set the address and operating mode of the detector before fixing the detector to the box. Make sure that the rubber seal is correctly in place. Inside the box, the IS COM line cable must not be routed close to other cables. Ex equipment must not be cleaned by rubbing or with solvents because of the risk of static electricity.
