## Product description

Panasonic 2811 (Hochiki DCD-1E-IS) is an intrinsically safe conventional heat detector for hazardous areas such as chemical plants, paint factories and other process facilities handling flammable gases. The detector responds to a rapid rise in temperature and also has a fixed trigger temperature of 60 °C.

The detector is ATEX rated II 1 G Ex ia IIC T5 Ga (−20 °C ≤ Ta ≤ +55 °C), so it is suitable for category 1 areas and all lower categories. A device designed to be intrinsically safe does not store enough energy to produce a spark or an igniting surface temperature, even in a fault condition. The two indicators are visible from all directions, and the detector has a remote indicator output. The manufacturer also offers a white version of the detector, DCD-1E-IS(WHT).

### Installation

The detector is installed in a mounting base without electronics (e.g. the 2812 ATEX mounting base). The conventional zone line in the Ex area is connected to the fire alarm control panel via a Zener barrier or galvanic isolator (e.g. MTL5561, 2820) located in the safe area. Up to 20 IS detectors can be connected to one zone line.
