# Smoke ventilation system maintenance

Smoke ventilation helps control the smoke produced in a fire. As part of the property’s wider fire safety, it supports safe evacuation and rescue operations.

PAP maintains smoke ventilation systems in properties. We do not supply or install smoke ventilation equipment; instead, we look after the maintenance of existing systems.

## What does smoke ventilation maintenance include?

We maintain smoke ventilation equipment and controls in accordance with their maintenance instructions. The maintenance programme brings the maintenance tasks together and supports their scheduling.

Maintenance also takes into account the connections between smoke ventilation, the fire alarm system and the property’s other safety technology. This way, no single device is considered in isolation from the whole.

## Maintenance as part of wider upkeep

Smoke ventilation maintenance can be combined with maintenance of the fire alarm system, the [voice alarm system](https://pap.fi/en/tuotteemme/aanievakuointijarjestelmat/) and [emergency lighting and exit signs](https://pap.fi/en/palvelumme/turvavalojen-huolto/).
